What is a copay?

Modified on Wed, 13 Jul, 2022 at 1:46 PM

A copay is a flat-rate amount that families are expected to pay. Typically, these can range from $10-70 per service or day (depending on your benefit plan). Insurance carriers will sometimes allow you to only pay the copay amount per visit/service up to your deductible; others will expect you to meet your deductible before your copay kicks in. Consult your member services line with your benefit plan to determine how your plan works.
